South West Crane Hire (2010) Ltd is a family run business covering the whole of the South West peninsular.  Operating from six strategic locations, Plymouth, Exeter, Barnstaple, Taunton, Yeovil and Bristol, we can supply all your lifting requirements quickly, efficiently, safely and competitively.

 

We are specialists in our field - with over 35 years experience in crane hire, professional staff and a crane for every job. 

 

 Crane Fleet
Michael Jeffery established a crane hire business in 1972 with one mobile strut crane and the fleet has grown from there. Thirty five years and more on and South West Crane Hire (2010) Ltd have the largest and most up to date fleet of cranes in our part of the country.  Mobile struts have been replaced with truck mounted cranes and over the years these have evolved, through a program of continuous upgrade and investment, into the familiar All Terrain, all wheel steer, compact cranes that comprise the majority of today's fleet.

 Lorry Mounted Cranes We run thirty seven cranes ranging from 8-ton to 200 ton capacity machines, three 'hiab' lorries and two artic units, not to mention a range of trailers for different needs. We operate an in house machinery moving and installation division.

All administration is dealt with at the Exeter Head Office, so there is a continuous link from one department to another, ensuring that information does not go 'adrift' and our aim is to provide the best back up service possible to our customers needs and the cranes performance.
For the benefit of our customers we can provide method statements, site visits, general crane consultation and risk assessments. Many customers recognise our strength in this area and leave the whole Lift to us, from planning stage through to lift completion, relying on our dedicated team of on site Managers, Operators, Slinger/Banksmen, Appointed Persons and Crane Supervisors. 

All of our operators are HGV drivers with the necessary CPCS qualifications. (These are an amalgamation of the old CITB and CTA qualifications, but all under the one banner of the Construction Plant Competence Scheme). Safety is our priority; all staff attend regular Health & Safety updates and are conversant with the needs for On Site Safety. The emphasis that we place on safety involves a lot of investment in our staff and machines and we take pride in our unblemished safety record.

Behind the scenes, the administration staff is always on hand to help or if they cannot, to find someone who can.

We are not infallible but we do strive to be as professional as possible and are dedicated to providing a safe Crane Hire service second to none.
